For once in a lifetime, I suggest people should do travel solo, anywhere.
Perhaps for few people, travelling alone still feel frightening, moreover for a woman. To be honest, I do sometimes still feel scared until now. But only this way we can learn and connect to our self.
At first, I didn’t want to travel alone, but as the time goes by, I realized that I couldn’t depend on others for this hobby, one of my hobbies. We all have our own business, so it is selfish if we hoping people would follow us nor for our self to follow others. Not everyone has the same desire during travel too. Anyway, there is always good and bad if you do travel solo or with companion.
But one thing for sure, if I decided to travel waiting for a companion to join me, I’d be never gone anywhere until now. This is most why I decide to travel solo. Also, there are few things I can conclude during my travel solo, such as:
1. You know yourself better
Each journey of my solo travelling gives me an insight of myself. The way I look at myself. The things I don’t know before inside me. I often talk to myself about many things, my traits, my thoughts, my decisions, etc. The more I know myself better, the more careful I am to think and to act for something. The much better I improve my self-control that is really useful in the future. You may do something stupid first before you become old and wise.
2. “There is always a way…”
During travel solo especially to a place you have no idea about it, you may feel excited yet scared. You may get lost more than once. But you become believe in yourself more, because there is only you that you can count. One of those believe that you may keep repeating to yourself is “there is always a way”. Somehow when you are stuck or don’t know where to go, there are some ways that you can actually choose and a miracle to believe in. Once I was kinda lost in a foreign country who do not speak English, I did not know whom I should ask nor where I should go, but I believe those words, after a while, I approached a guy who luckily could speak English and show me the way. Sometimes you just need to believe and be positive.
3. You know how to conquer your fear.
Fear often comes from something that we cannot handle or it terrified us. Like challenges that we need to confront. When you are with others you may feel easier cause you always think that you have someone else beside you, but when you are force to be face it alone, you become more afraid and most of the time you want to give up. But at some point your survival guts, ask you to conquer your fear no matter what as you want to survive, you want to pass this through. And the only way to know how brave and strong you are is sometimes when you just have to do it by yourself.
4. Freedom at its best!
This is the most part I like when I travel solo. Freedom!!! I can do what I want and I responsible of myself. I do not have to think what my companion think or feel. It’s just me, myself, and I. It’s like a date with myself and I wanna spoil myself. It means I learn how to love myself better too!
5. You still believe in humanity.
When you come to a place you have never been, you meet new people, local or even foreigners. You make friends from there, or even just people who friendly enough to take you around and sometimes you just trust their good. I know as a woman I have to be more careful, but it will toxic my heart if I keep see people in negative ways. Sometimes all you need is just see good in people and lead you where to go. So far, because of travelling solo, I’ve made so many friendship from people around the world and I’m grateful for that.
These are few reasons that makes me keep travelling solo, because each place, each journey will give me more lessons to learn. But it will always end for a better me. This is why I travel solo…
